So how do we pay for it all anyway? Things you should do to get the most for your money 1. SAT- required for Upward Bound to provide college application vouchers a. Sign up on collegeboard.com click here for a link b. send username and password to Mrs. Miller Juniors- take in early spring Seniors- take in early fall, no later than December 2. Scholarships- people want to help you in your dream of a college degree A. National a. Fastweb- one of the best scholarship sites to date b. Collegeboard- another great place to seek scholarships 1. Register immediately 2. Fill out the profile 3. Fill out ALL scholarships applications no matter the award (it all adds up) 4. Apply to all scholarships that you qualify for, you might just win. 5. Keep your essays on file as they often are reused in college applications and other scholarships 6. Do not rely only on national based scholarships for your "meal ticket" B. College Check with financial aid office in early fall to see what scholarships you can apply for C. Local Watch your morning announcements and check with your guidance counselor for possible local scholarships 3. Grants/Loans- how the state and national government can help you A. FinAid.org- great service from Monster about what financial aid is B. FAFSA- Primary source of college tuition aid. 1. Seniors a. Sign up for pin number here for you and parents, do this before January, store in a safe place, you will need those numbers the next four years. b. Fill out FAFSA online by January 15, do not worry about actual amounts, those can be edited later. - Don't get overwhelmed by the form, we will have a workshop on it.
